Greetings from a very Hot and Humid
Oudtshoorn,
I
have been very hectic the last two months. I have at last managed
to get my PDP and have been taking
Dutch visitors to their various
Guest Houses across the country. Our first visit was to
Bushmanskloof
in Clanwilliam and then
Kukareb also in the same area. Both of these places are a pleasure to
visit with
amazing hospitality and friendly
Staff.
We then set off with some more clients to the Klein Karoo,
visiting Gondwana Game Reserve, Botlierskop and
Nyaru Private Game Reserves where I
saw lovely animals as I had a day of rest there. I am finding that
our
overseas visitors are very
interested to visit the country towns and specially the Karoo.

Chris,
my son and I did a trip towards the end of January and did our rounds
visiting our clients and we were
very privileged to visit The Retreat at Groenfontein outside
Calitzdorp and spent an evening there. What an
amazing retreat. There was no cellphone signal similiar to when I
was at Bushmanskloof due to the various
Mountains in the area. It was so beautiful and really a bird lovers
paradise.
From
there it was a day trip to visit Prince Albert over the Swartberg
Pass. A 4 x4 vehicle is not necessary, but I
would suggest that you use a high vehicle as most of the roads were
gravel, and not too bad to drive on. For all
the nature lovers, all these places are an absolute must.
Three
weeks ago I was also in Knysna were I stayed at the Abalone Lodge,
at the Old Place, Knysna. What a lovely
surprise to find a Spa Bath in my Chalet, which was a great way to relax
after our long drive before going out to
have a Seafood Dinner at The Anchorage, in Grey Street, Knysna which
was out of this world.

Coming
back to Cape Town we stopped at Aan de Oever Guest House, in
Swellendam, and could walk to our Field & Fork Restaurant Bistro,
which served the best Steak I have had in a long while and our Guests had
super Seafood
once again. Both these restaurants are definitely a must to put in your
visit down the Garden Route.
At the moment I
am in Oudtshoorn assisting Baron’s Palace with their
Marketing and also getting ready for the KKNK Festival (Klein
Karoo National Arts Festival) which will be starting on the 30th
March for about 10 Days. Those of you who have not booked your
accommodation yet, are too late, Oudtshoorn is very, very busy in the up
-coming week. KKNK Festival 31th March – 9th
April 2012.
