We hope you are all well. Our
winter is not yet over so be prepared for more cold wet winter weather.
We are looking forward to having our start of Spring from September, when
we can receive some warmer weather. In the meantime we were just
waiting for a little more rain before the Spring flowers all come and
greet us along the West Coast. CTC Marketing and Tours, with the
help of Gerrie’sToere is going to start our first ‘Flower Tour’ to
visit Namaqualand for the beautiful show of spring flowers. There is
a 6 day and a 8 day tour available as mentioned in our previous
newsletter, anyone interested to join us can contact us. Next year we
will be doing the same tour.
We will be visiting the Postberg Nature Reserve, just outside Cape Town,
then on to Clanwilliam, Rooibos tea area, Nieuwoudtville where we will
visit the Quiver Tree Forest, which can reach the age of over 400 years,
Plus see the Nieuwoudt Falls and drive through the Matjiesfontein Flower
Route, and then on to VanRhynsdorp and visit the ‘Knersvlakte” where
you will encounter the smallest succulent flowers growing amongst quartz
in the field along the road, which is supposed to be the richest
population on earth. Then on to Kamieskroon where we will
visit the ‘Skilpad” (tortoise) Wild Flower Reserve where you will
see kilometres of flowers of different colours, and then onto Springbok,
Nababeep, and many more small towns on route and of course en route
everywhere from Cape Town to the north you will see flowers looking like
colourful carpets on the side of the road. We hope to have many of
you interested. Our flowers were very late this year because of the
drought we have been experiencing in the Western and Northern Cape.
We will be taking approximately
12 people on each tour. So get some friends together and come and enjoy
our
West Coast Flowers experience. We will be waiting to hear from
you…………

We will also be putting a Tour
together to visit the Greater Karoo sometime this year, where we will
visit Graaff Reinet,
the Valley of Desolation, Niew-Bethesda, Aberdeen, Willowmore, De Rust,
Klaarstroom, Prins Albert, Calitzdorp, Ladismith, Barrydale, Montagu,
McGregor and back to Cape Town.. We have had many requests to visit
these areas,
so will be looking for accommodation for our Tour from our members or
contacts. So please contact me should you be interested to supply some
accommodation for 8-12 people.
We look forward to hearing from you and those who wish to join us on the
tour. We will be offering cooking classes,
bread making, and various other
activities also on the way, so you will all be having amazing experiences
on your Tour.. There will be time for photographs, walks and relaxing
time in between.
Another reminder of the Cape
Holiday Show, which will be held here in Stellenbosch for the first time
in the Western Cape. We have had a wonderful response, but still
have a few Stands available especially for Guest Houses, so that
our visitors can meet you all and perhaps use you for their next visit
to the Cape or even to the Eastern Cape. Or the
West Coast which has so much to offer. We find here in Cape Town,
that we are getting many visitors coming from
Inland from our other Provinces
to visit the Local Guests Houses and Hotel instead of going
overseas. So we hope we
have a big selection of Guest Houses from many of our other Provinces
where the Cape Town people can also go and
visit. Hence us starting with inland Tours for many clients. elaine@capeholidayshow.co.za 0747092502
These
are three of our Members who will be at our Stand A17, do come visit
them.

Women’s Day on the 9th
August and Women’s Month celebrations:, Metrorail Tourist Train and
Drakenstein Municipality put their heads together and organized a
wonderful Train Trip to Wellington and Paarl for the day! . Leaving
just after 8 in the morning after having Coffee at the Premier Classe
Lounge at Cape Town Station and receiving our Breakfast Pack ‘PadKos’ for
our journey we boarded the Blue and Yellow Tourist Train. What fun,
each rail coach had a leader and they then introduced us to the tour
activities and a few ladies, who spoke about what they did in Tourism,
and gave us the link of #WomenInTourism for all the Twitter and Face Book
ladies on board.
Beautiful Cup Cakes were
brought to us by Metro Rail ladies, wine by a few of the gentlemen on
board, cameras flashing and Videos were being made during the whole trip.
Much laughter and chatting plus an amazing goodie bag was also
received by all the ladies.
Our train stopped at Paarl to pick up all the Tourism ladies and Guides
from their area, and then on to the next stop.
When we arrived at Wellington we were greeted by some of the Drakenstein
Tourism Ladies, who asked us to board two large Coaches from Paarl Rock
Tours who then took us to the various places that we were going to
visit..
Our first visit was to the beautiful Langkloof Roses Boutique Guest Farm,
where amazing rose gardens were to be seen everywhere.
Unfortunately, no roses as it is not Spring yet, but a very large
table with lovely flowers, eats and treats, coffee and tea awaited us
instead. Such a beautiful tranquil area to visit, where many Brides
come for their wedding in the small stone Chapel, facilities for
the wedding are held in the large Manor house. They also have an amazing
Deli/Restaurant for daily visitors coming to visit the farm for a light
lunch or tea and coffee. Wellington is nestled in
a beautiful Valley surrounded by majestic mountains, Du Toitskloof and of
course one of our oldest passes being Bainskloof.
After a walk about and also
looking at their guest cottages where you could spend a restful weekend
away from the city, we departed for our next destination which was
Rhebokskloof Wine Estate, just outside Paarl where we were going to have
our lunch. The local Mayor welcomed all the visitors and a few
speeches were made by various other ladies, plus the drawing of many
prizes before settling down to some wine and a lovely lunch. After
our lunch we then ventured forth again to our next destination, which was
the KWV Wine Emporium in Paarl.
Here we had a tasting of their
Classic Bubbly and three kinds of small cheese cakes. Afterwards we did a
Cellar Tour
where we saw the first wooden vats that were used by KWV many years ago
and of course their Distillery for their
KWV Brandy which they are so well known for. What an interesting
day spent in the country with a 100 lovely ladies
involved in Tourism, each doing their bit to make our visitors to
Cape Town and surrounding areas welcome.. A big
surprise waiting for us at Paarl Station was our Tourist Train and a
wonderful lady train driver welcoming us full of smiles also doing her
bit for our Ladies Day outing.. A big thank you was given to the
people of Drakenstein Valley and
Metrorail, because without them this would not have been possible.

The
end of a wonderful day on our way back to Cape Town.
We wish you all WONDERFUL
month and hope the ladies had a lovely Woman’s Day and month. We
look forward
to hearing from you, and perhaps seeing some of you on our Tours or
meeting you at the Cape Holiday Show. Well, Spring is here, and we wish
you all a wonderful September when we will be sending you our next
newsletter, hopefully
with more exciting news.
Warm Regards and God Bless,
