Aug/Sept 2011

Greetings from a Sunny Spring Day in Cape Town,

Our weather is amazing, but guess what to-morrow it rains again! We have to enjoy these odd lovely summer/spring days that appear for a day or two. We were so hectic in the office during August that I never got round to doing our monthly newsletter. We have changed our “Go Cards” website, so you will see why we were so busy, plus did a presentation to new members coming on board at Ashton “Platform 62 Tourism Centre”. They will be promoting our “Go Cards” for the visitors coming down Route 62 towards Cape Town. We are still looking for some more people in that area with activities our visitors can enjoy en route to Cape Town.

Cape Town is slowly getting busy, with many changes for the coming season. At the moment they are erecting the new Wheel of Excellence at the V & A Waterfront, which should be ready any day, new restaurants opening also at the Waterfront, plus a new Helicopter company. We wish all our members at CTC Marketing and Go Cards all the best for the coming season, and may your business start getting busy again. Those members who have not yet returned your Membership Application for CTC Marketing or Marketing Agreement forms for Go Cards, please do so, then we will be able to market your products or establishment this coming season. Any specials are welcome for our next month’s news letter.

Warm Regards from The Team,

Important guidelines for Guest House/Lodges from “The Greenwood Guide to South Africa & Namibia “ 9th Edition 2010/2011 By Simon Greenwood.

THINGS WE LIKE:

Natural, unstuffy, humorous hosts, gardens, good food, untouristy places, dirt roads, the lived-in look, the Artistic, the unusual, big baths, open fires, real coffee, freshly-squeezed orange juice. We like places where the hosts are doing their own thing and treat their guests like fellow human beings.

THINGS WE NO NOT LIKE:

Swirly, frilly, lacy décor, conference centres, identikit bedrooms, chain hotels, hosts who disappear irretrievably after your arrival……. Or never leave you alone; the smelly, the over-priced, the sickeningly cutesy; the fake smiles, hatchet faces and steely eyes.

Simon and his Team have personally visited these hand-picked accommodations on their visit to SA & Namibia, and chosen each place to stay for its exceptional character and genuine friendliness. These are the places that they themselves would choose to return to on holiday. A suggestion to you from CTC Marketing is, to try and read their 9th Edition.
