Greetings from Cape Town,

I hope you are all geared for the summer season.  Some of our members have not had a good season at all. During these quiet times we need to offer our visitors as many specials as we can, so as not to have empty beds.

We are happy to advertise any specials during these times, as always free of Charge, as our letters travel all over South Africa, Namibia and even overseas.

Being quiet have given us a chance to concentrate on the “Go Cards” and we have received our first news cards a few days ago for Cape Town & Beyond card, which is valid for 1, 2, 3 & 7 Days. We are now busy loading suppliers from Route 62 and the Garden Route. So those of you that have activities, restaurants or animal encounters, and what about a museum or two, that they would like to list on our cards, please do contact me. Chris and I will be visiting your area shortly, so hope to see some of you on the way. Do have a look at our updated website: - www.gocards.co.za.  These cards are also obtainable through our online website, or from your Tourism Office, or information centres and Computickets. Cape Town Tourism will start selling them from the Cape Town International Air Port in  December. We wish you all a wonderful summer season and will also be visiting some of our Members en route to do some site inspections.

Warm Regards,

Elaine Corbett

The Giraffe bulls are also using up a lot of their time competing with each other.

This is called “necking” is done to determine who of the two males competing is stronger

and more dominant.  Giraffe do not fight for territorial purposes as they do not protect

certain areas, but rather Fight for breading rights.  “Necking” can go on for hours on end.

It usually ends with one of the malesbeing either too exhausted to continue or more simply

Edition 1:   10th January 2011 Newsletter

Greetings from Cape Town,

A Big thank you to all the lovely people we met on our Marketing trip down The Garden Route and Breede Valley area in November 2010.   It was such a change from being in the office between four walls.

We found both areas amazing and sometimes wonder why our South Africans do not take a Province at a time or an area and visit it for their annual holiday.  We have amazing Guest Houses and Self Catering cottages where you can stay over for a very reasonable rate. The weather was wonderful for us, as it was sunny and not raining at all, though I must say the Garden Route really needs some rain badly.  Well, at last they are also having rain as well as the Eastern Cape and the rest of South Africa.

This is the first of my News letter in a long time. If you have any interesting News you would like to share with our other Members, please send on your articles or photographs.  For the moment I am using the materials that I have on file or where my travels have taken me. I will try and put in as much as I possibly can.  Any suggestions would also be welcome from you e.g. Travel news, travel hints, amazing places, 4 x 4 routes etc, etc.

Wishing you all a prosperous 2011 and if you have any special rates or availability please advise so that we can share it in our News letter or websites, see www.go2sa.co.za where we can advertise all your information and interact with one another on our community Marketing Portal.

Warm regards,

Elaine Corbett

Aug/Sept 2011

Greetings from a Sunny Spring Day in Cape Town,

Our weather is amazing, but guess what to-morrow it rains again! We have to enjoy these odd lovely summer/spring days that appear for a day or two. We were so hectic in the office during August that I never got round to doing our monthly newsletter. We have changed our “Go Cards” website, so you will see why we were so busy, plus did a presentation to new members coming on board at Ashton “Platform 62 Tourism Centre”. They will be promoting our “Go Cards” for the visitors coming down Route 62 towards Cape Town. We are still looking for some more people in that area with activities our visitors can enjoy en route to Cape Town.

Cape Town is slowly getting busy, with many changes for the coming season. At the moment they are erecting the new Wheel of Excellence at the V & A Waterfront, which should be ready any day, new restaurants opening also at the Waterfront, plus a new Helicopter company. We wish all our members at CTC Marketing and Go Cards all the best for the coming season, and may your business start getting busy again. Those members who have not yet returned your Membership Application for CTC Marketing or Marketing Agreement forms for Go Cards, please do so, then we will be able to market your products or establishment this coming season. Any specials are welcome for our next month’s news letter.

Warm Regards from The Team,

Important guidelines for Guest House/Lodges from “The Greenwood Guide to South Africa & Namibia “ 9th Edition 2010/2011 By Simon Greenwood.

THINGS WE LIKE:

Natural, unstuffy, humorous hosts, gardens, good food, untouristy places, dirt roads, the lived-in look, the Artistic, the unusual, big baths, open fires, real coffee, freshly-squeezed orange juice. We like places where the hosts are doing their own thing and treat their guests like fellow human beings.

THINGS WE NO NOT LIKE:

Swirly, frilly, lacy décor, conference centres, identikit bedrooms, chain hotels, hosts who disappear irretrievably after your arrival……. Or never leave you alone; the smelly, the over-priced, the sickeningly cutesy; the fake smiles, hatchet faces and steely eyes.

Simon and his Team have personally visited these hand-picked accommodations on their visit to SA & Namibia, and chosen each place to stay for its exceptional character and genuine friendliness. These are the places that they themselves would choose to return to on holiday. A suggestion to you from CTC Marketing is, to try and read their 9th Edition.
